Last night was a 5th Monday, so a civvies day and also a party night at the squadron building. Instead, CC Williamson made it into a VERY necessary cleaning day, although we all brought some food to share afterwards. It was a great night, with no opening/closing formation, testing, promotions, or promo boards, and we didn't always call each other by our last names, like we're supposed to. We all went by our nicknames, at least those of us who had them. You want one to? Just know that over the next few meetings we'll be watching you, looking for a name that either fits or memorializes some embarrassing moment in your CAP life that you wish never happened. No, nothing really terrible, and we'll make sure you like it before it sticks. So! We started off by cleaning up the pinecones outside. No kidding!! we made a huge pile of ALL the pinecones, and then ferried them over to the gully where we left them. So now more tripping over those lousy things when you're hurrying somewhere, until the next big wind comes in. Oh well, it looks good now, if it only stays that way for a week. Inside, we vacuumed the whole floor of the Cadet Room, and pulled chairs around and such. We also moved those two tables into the middle to create a classroom setting. It looks nice. The windows were cleaned inside and out, the kitchen was cleaned, Logistics was tidyied, and the MREs that were up on that shelf? They're gone, at least most of them. I have the 12 of them that weren't chewed upon by mice. One of the culprits was stupid enough to eat the stuff that wasn't food, the dry-packs, or whatever. All's left of it was a skeleton with about half the insides still inside. If you want pics, I'll send them to you, but you have to leave either a comment on this post, or send me an email. You can use the one here if you don't have mine, although you should be able to find it. My morbid-to-no-end-ness isn't really something to post on this blog, sorry. I also came away with 12 MREs that weren't chewed open at all. 5 Chicken Stews, 3 Chunky Beef Stews, 3 Chopped Beef, and 1 Beef with Noodles. All of them came with bread, a chocolate chip granola bar, a beverage base powder, salt, sugar, and pepper. If you want to try one, come to a meeting sometime, preferably a BDUs or PT day (I will not attempt opening one in Blues), and email me before hand so I know to bring one. I'll take them camping or something, or bring them to some CAP event just for kicks, too. See you guys later,

News! Old and New
Hey everybody!
After a long absence for which I wasn't really absent, I'm back, and I'll keep this blog updated as much as possible. For those of you who haven't been attending meetings regularly, there are a few changes in the squadron that you should probably know about. Lt Leubke has left, as have all the Sheas. This has left quite a hole in our staff, and for a while Sgt Thompson and Kiehle took Flight Sgt responsibilities and Chief Nye became 1Sgt. Both Kiehle and Thompson have also left now for sports, so they will be back eventually, but for now we only have enough cadets for one flight. Chief Nye is absent until the 21st of July, so M Armstrong has taken the position of Shirt (first Sergeant), and N Armstrong is now Flight Sergeant. C Joehnk, Basile, and I are hot contenders for possesion of a possible second flight, as soon as we get more regulars coming to meetings. The funny thing? Both the Armstrongs are only Sr Amn (SSgt is coming soon!), so we've got Airmen practically running the squadron. For last PT night, CC C/1Lt Williamson was absent, so we had three Airmen in control of the whole night. Interesting, but it actually went pretty smoothly. Now for the present and future events/changes. The squadron as a whole has become more organized. No more helter-skelter test scheduling: you must email the 1Sgt or testing officer at least 24 hours in advance with the test(s) you want, the name of the test, and the achievement you are going for. That way, beginning at 1800 Monday and ending at 1830, you can walk in, grab your test and a pencil and finish before the meeting starts with no time or scheduling problems. The Color Guard team meets at the building at 1730 for practice, so it's garaunteed that there will be someone around during testing time. Events wise, the Arlington Fly In takes place July 6-13th, so now is the time to get your registration in. Leave a comment on this post and I'll give you specifics regarding the registration stuff. McChord Air Expo (the 40th anniversary!!) takes place July 18-20, and registration information is still coming. Basic Encampment this year is August 9-16th, so check the WAWG site soon for information regarding that. I'll be going for sure to both the McChord Expo and BE, so if you need information on carpooling or the such, post a comment and I'll get back to you via email. I hope to see some of you at future meetings, and please check back here often for updates.

Blog and Forum
New times for the Peninsula Composite Squadron! We now have The Blog (you're reading it) and The Forum, put together by M Armstrong. Check it out, it's outstanding! I think everybody has got the email concerning the forum, but just in case, the link is here, or under the "Important Links" section of this blog. I encourage you to become regular members of the forum, as it looks like it could be amazingly useful, and also great fun. Kudos to Armstrong!
