Hey everybody!
After a long absence for which I wasn't really absent, I'm back, and I'll keep this blog updated as much as possible. For those of you who haven't been attending meetings regularly, there are a few changes in the squadron that you should probably know about. Lt Leubke has left, as have all the Sheas. This has left quite a hole in our staff, and for a while Sgt Thompson and Kiehle took Flight Sgt responsibilities and Chief Nye became 1Sgt. Both Kiehle and Thompson have also left now for sports, so they will be back eventually, but for now we only have enough cadets for one flight. Chief Nye is absent until the 21st of July, so M Armstrong has taken the position of Shirt (first Sergeant), and N Armstrong is now Flight Sergeant. C Joehnk, Basile, and I are hot contenders for possesion of a possible second flight, as soon as we get more regulars coming to meetings. The funny thing? Both the Armstrongs are only Sr Amn (SSgt is coming soon!), so we've got Airmen practically running the squadron. For last PT night, CC C/1Lt Williamson was absent, so we had three Airmen in control of the whole night. Interesting, but it actually went pretty smoothly. Now for the present and future events/changes. The squadron as a whole has become more organized. No more helter-skelter test scheduling: you must email the 1Sgt or testing officer at least 24 hours in advance with the test(s) you want, the name of the test, and the achievement you are going for. That way, beginning at 1800 Monday and ending at 1830, you can walk in, grab your test and a pencil and finish before the meeting starts with no time or scheduling problems. The Color Guard team meets at the building at 1730 for practice, so it's garaunteed that there will be someone around during testing time. Events wise, the Arlington Fly In takes place July 6-13th, so now is the time to get your registration in. Leave a comment on this post and I'll give you specifics regarding the registration stuff. McChord Air Expo (the 40th anniversary!!) takes place July 18-20, and registration information is still coming. Basic Encampment this year is August 9-16th, so check the WAWG site soon for information regarding that. I'll be going for sure to both the McChord Expo and BE, so if you need information on carpooling or the such, post a comment and I'll get back to you via email. I hope to see some of you at future meetings, and please check back here often for updates.
